Response to TMB's use of CE Broker
Response to TMB's use of CE Broker
August 17th , 2026
Dear TAAOM Members,
The Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (TAAOM) would like to make our
members aware of an upcoming change to the continuing education reporting process for
licensees regulated by the Texas Medical Board.
Effective September 1, 2026, the Texas Medical Board will require continuing education
compliance to be verified through CE Broker as part of the license renewal process. Licensees
whose renewals are subject to this requirement will need to establish a CE Broker account and
ensure that the continuing education required for their renewal period has been properly reported
and reflected in the system.
TAAOM recognizes that this change has generated questions and concerns among members,
particularly regarding the additional reporting process and how previously completed continuing
education will be documented. It is important to clarify that this change is not specific to the
acupuncture profession. The Texas Medical Board regulates a number of healthcare professions
that are transitioning to this reporting system, including physicians, physician assistants,
acupuncturists, respiratory care practitioners, medical radiologic technologists, medical
physicists, perfusionists, surgical assistants, and other TMB-regulated licensees.
The purpose of the new process is to allow the Texas Medical Board to verify continuing
education compliance electronically prior to completion of a license renewal.
TMB has indicated that licensees may use the Basic CE Broker account at no cost to satisfy
the reporting requirement. A paid CE Broker subscription is not required for licensure or
renewal.
Continuing education may be reported to CE Broker by the individual licensee or, in certain
circumstances, directly by an approved continuing education provider or professional
organization. CE Broker also provides an organization transcript reporting option for Texas
Medical Board acupuncturists that may allow multiple continuing education requirements to be
documented through a single transcript. Licensees should nevertheless review their individual
CE Broker record to confirm that all required hours and categories have been appropriately
reported and credited.
TAAOM strongly encourages members with upcoming license renewals to establish their CE
Broker account well in advance of their renewal date. Waiting until the time of renewal may
make it more difficult to resolve missing documentation, incorrectly categorized hours, or other
reporting issues before the license renewal deadline.
As with any new regulatory process, there will likely be a period of adjustment as licensees,
continuing education providers, professional organizations, and the Texas Medical Board
transition to the new system. TAAOM will continue to monitor implementation of these
requirements and provide our members with relevant information and resources as they become
available.
We also want to hear from our members. Those who would like to share their concerns,
experiences, or perspectives regarding this change are encouraged to attend TAAOM's
September meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the American College of Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), 9100 Park West Drive, Houston, Texas 77063.
Members are invited to join us from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for Bagels with the Board, an
informal opportunity to meet and connect with members of the TAAOM Board. The general
meeting will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for members to make their voices heard and to discuss
concerns surrounding the new reporting requirements with TAAOM leadership. Please note that
this portion of the meeting is intended for member discussion and feedback and will not
serve as a CE Broker tutorial or individual technical-support session.
Member input is important to TAAOM's work as the professional association representing
acupuncturists across Texas. We encourage members to participate, share their experiences, and
help us better understand how regulatory changes such as these are affecting our profession.
Members are also encouraged to review information provided directly by the Texas Medical
Board and CE Broker regarding their individual continuing education and renewal requirements.
TAAOM remains committed to keeping Texas acupuncturists informed of regulatory changes
affecting our profession, providing a forum for the concerns of our members, and supporting the
acupuncture profession throughout Texas.
Sincerely,
Texas Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

(Texas Medical
West Drive, Houston, Texas 77063)
